Sewing

Well I noticed that I have had no comments on my blog and was concerned that since it has been awhile since my last post that maybe I was outta of the loop, luckily thats not the case. Apparently there was something screwy going on with my blog so hopefully I have it worked out and you all can now view my blog.
No sewing today, moving my dd back in with us so we will spend yet another day organizing and rearranging and then will have to start moving her n baby back in. Have a lot of sewing I want to do so this is really NO FUN!

Pillowcase dress!

Well I finally made my first pillowcase dress and bias tape, YAY! Both were very easy and fun to make.
I just love this fabric, I ordered it a couple weeks ago from amazon.com and had the matching polka dot fabric in my stash. Sorry about the yucky pics these were takin with my cell phone and does the dress and fabric no justice. But like I said in my previous post I have a new camera now so my pics will be much better in following post.

My Bry being silly just makes the dress even cuter, dont ya think.
Like I said this lil dress was so simple to make, all I did was cute the arm hole by placing one of her existing dresses onto the corners of the fabric added my elastice at the top and bias tape around the arm holes which I continued as the shoulder ties and a band of matching fabric at the bottom, took about an hour to make because of all the yucky ironing of seams and such. I plan to make many more of the dresses, they are so cute and easy to wear and Ms. Bry just loves that they are comfortable and cool.
If you havent made one of these I suggust you do.
Tomorrow's sewing will be another pillowcase dress using the fabric I used on my mom-n-law apron gift.
Goodnight........

Mothers Day sewing!

Happy Mothers Day!
Well I did get a couple of my Mom Day gifts completed and pics taken, ran out of stabalizer and Wal Mart nor Hobby Lobby have any so my other gifts will have to wait.

I had so much fun making this apron and tea towels. These gifts were made for my mother-n-law. The fabric is just darling and I actually have enough left over to make a cute lil pillowcase dress for my Bryanna.
Hope all of you had a wonderful Mothers Day, mine was great. My hubby ordered me a beautiful mothers ring(which is still not in, ugh) and today I got a Nikon Coolpix S8100 camera and an awsome dinner he grilled steaks out on the grill, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and chocolate cupcakes, yummmmm!
I am now just relaxing in my bed and enjoying the rest of the night cuddling with my honey.
Sorry for the bad pics, but like I said I have a new camera so from now on my pics will ROCK! :0)

St. Patty's day sewing

Well I was actually able to get some sewing in, Yippy! Thought I had better start on Miss Bry's St. Patricks day outfit so I found some cute clover fabric with lady bugs on it and some red and white polka dot fabric from my stash. I have decided to make a t-shirt dress so purchased a rtw shirt from Hobby Lobby and some cute iron on lady bugs just incase I don't find a cute lady bug embroidery applique I like.
Also added a pile of freshly washed fabric to my sewing room floor that is waiting to be ironed, Ugh.....
And received this beautiful little handmade heart from my sweet baby girl Bryanna(which is somewhat of a bribe since right before my gifting I was ask repeatedly when I was going to teach her to sew, lol). Gotta love kids they know a way to a mama's heart. :0)
I will post pics of my finished project upon completion. Got lots of patterns to cut out( Simplicity patterns are $.99 cents at Hobby Lobby right now) and fabric to iron so until next time.

Help!

Yes I have been away from the blogging too long now I dont even know how to fix my page it is so ugly and I have spent hours on it, ugh!
How do you put the pretty background with your blog title or pic with your blog title and how do you move the blog title over and so on.
Experts PLEASE HELP! :0)

I have missed blogging and sewing but have made up my mind that I am going to get back on track, actually I am not taking care of my grand baby anymore and can now go back to focusing on what I want to do and how I want to spend my time without him dictating every thing I do and when I do it, lol.... He does rock my world tho.
I love you Bryce Derrick.

How long has it been?

Well I dont know if any of you have missed me but I can say that I have truely missed all of you and the world of blogging. Have done some catching up on some of my favs and you guys are so awesome.
Well one of my reasons for being MIA is as some of you know I became a grandma in March and most of my focus has been on my sweet grandson and helping my daughter become a mom. I have done no sewing whatsoever, Can you believe that! So my New Years Resolution is to get back into the swing of things that I love and get to work on that shop I have been intending and desiring to open for how long now??????
I plan on staying on top of blogging and reading blogs because it makes me happy and happy is what I need at this point in my life. Will post pictures of the little man as soon as my slow internet issues are resolved. Until then I hope to her from my blog buddies and get caught up on everything I have missed out on.

Bry's sewing class

My six year old is taking a sewing class down town at our local quilt shop. Their 1st project is a quilt for their baby doll. Bryanna was so excited about the class that I was reminded for 2 days what time it started about every 10 minutes, lol. She picked out her own charm pack and backing material and it is so cute, the charm pack is random puppy fabric with pieces of floral and polka dots and the backing is pink with doggie bones.

They haven't started sewing yet, the 1st day was just alot of cutting which Bry finished way before the other girls and was ready to sew but unfortunetly that wont start till the next class. But to my surprise she wasn't too disappointed and just sat quietly and gathered all her little squares up and stacked them neatly. She is the youngest in her class but she does well with all ages so it wasn't a big deal and there were only two other girls there and they were ages 7 and 8 so it wasn't like she was surrounded by teens lol. They had popcorn and koolaid during their break and the girls giggled and talked about all kinds of silly things. I think the highlight of the class was when they gathered in the bathroom to wash up so we could continue, lol, there was tons of giggling and silliness goin on and that took longer then it did for Bry to cut her quilt squares.
It was very fun and she is looking forward to her next class which wont be till July 2nd cause the teacher is going on vacation. Ugh.....
Hope everyone has a HAPPY FATHERS DAY spending quality time with all those daddy's that work so hard and love so much every day of the year. Ours is going to be spent lounging with a steak dinner on the grill this eve.
Hugs,
Kat

I'm a Grandma!

Hi blog land long time no blog :( Missed you all, although I haven't updated my blog in awhile I have still been keeping up and reading all of your blogs.

Headline news, yes I am now a grandma to a beautiful baby boy, Bryce Derrick was born Friday March 26th at 3:33am and I was able to be a part of his birth, it was awesome and mom did a great job delivering him. He weighed 5lbs 2.8oz, 181/2 inches long and has tons of black hair.

He is such a good baby and we are enjoying him tremendosly.

In other news I have been very busy lately, we decided to re-do our livingroom so we repainted and bought new furniture and a flatscreen tv and....... it looks great, still need to finish some of the painting and making my curtains. My livingroom n dinningroom are open to each other so my next task is to paint it and make curtains and do some updating. Almost forgot, one of the things that I am doing in my livingroom that I am very excited about is a cross wall and I was so fortunate to find an awesome sale at Hobby Lobby a couple weeks ago, all their wall decor was on sale 50% off, can u believe it! Anywho pictures will come as soon as I get it all finished.

As far as sewing I have down some, I made my lil girl the cutest Valentine outfit and have done a little embroidering but have been so busy re decorating that I have not done much sewing, I have got a few things on my sewing list so I should be getting busy with that soon.

O and you are so welcome for the baby eye candy, isnt he beautiful........

Baby shower ideas need and a pic of my sewing machine.

Brother Embroidery and Sewing Machine with USB Port.

Here is my machine. I absolutely love it. Sorry it has taken me so long to post a picture but I have been very busy using this baby. I have been working hard trying to get some Valentine outfits sewn up and have done some cute embroidered hearts on the tops and such. I still owe pics of my sewing room and those will be next, Scouts Honor ;)

I am also planning a baby shower while I am busy sewing. My plan was/is to have it on the 13th but not sure if everyone is onboard with that date since it is so soon. My dear daughter wants a SpongeBob baby shower, how funny is that. Its her day so a SpongeBob shower is what she is gonna get. lol. Any shower ideas and game ideas are welcomed and greatly needed. This is my 1st shower and I am a little nervous. I also plan on having a second shower for her here in our town that will be for neighbors and her friends and church family, the 1st shower will be in another town that is closer to her relatives. The second one wont be until March so not worried to much about it for now.

Well I am off to bed hope to hear some shower ideas from everyone.

Blood test back :( Need prayer.....

Hi all just wanted to leave a quick post to let everyone know I am still blogging, havent been getting many comments on my blog lately and I am not sure if its because I am totally boring or if everyone has been super busy getting ready for the Holidays, I am assuming its a little of both :)

I did not completely finish my sewing room like I had planned and I have still not even got to turn my new used serger on, bummer I know but today I had a follow up apt with the doc to go over my blood work and it ended up not going to well found out my liver enzymes are up so I have to go in for a sonogram and I have to do more blood test to check for hepititus. Also I had something up with my anitnucular antibodies, I tested positive on that and the number was pretty high or something like that so now I have to see a romatologist to see what kind of tissue disease I may have, she is leaning towards lupus but nothing set in stone till I see the specialist. My cholestoral was a little high but cant take meds for that cause of my liver problem and my vitamin d was low. Ugh...... so for now it is wait and see and while I wait and wait some more I have to start exercising and lose some weight, alot of weight. She gave me a paper with several diets and told me to just find one that fits me that I can do no matter what it be so, starting tomorrow I begin my quest.
I will keep everyone updated as I find things out, prayers are needed and would be greatly appreciated, I am not ok with having anything wrong with me and am chosing to fight this all the way.

Hugs,
Kathy

My serger has arrived!

O yeah my serger came home to me on Saturday and I am so excited to finally meet her. She is a Simplicity easylock SL370 and is the perfect starter serger, or that is what I have heard anyway, I have not got to use her yet because I am waiting for hubby to bring home the manual he is printing of for me because mine was bought without the manual. I am so ready to fire this baby up and give her a try. If you read my previous post you would know that I purchased this serger from ebay I was the highest bidder and won her at $56.00.

My sewing room should be all set up and ready to be used by the end of today so I will post pictures at that time also had two birthdays in our house over the weekend and pics to share of that great day also.

An Award for me that I am given to you :)

I received this awesome reward from my gal Julia, this lady really amazes me she is so creative and such and inspiration to me, I always look forward to her blog and all her wonderful creations. She is truely one of a kind and you should totally check out her blog http://juliassewsweetandspecial.blogspot.com/ you will be hooked I promise.
Scrap means left over, fragments, discarded material. Many times truth and honesty are discarded material, considered fragments and left over. People like us need to tell it like it is, and let the scraps fall where they will.

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the person who gave the award and list their blog and link it.

2. Share "10 Honest Things" about yourself.

3. Present this award to 7 others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.

4. Tell those 7 people they've been awarded Honest Scrap and inform them of these guidelines in receiving the award.

Okay now for me to share 10 things with you about myself, hmmmm let's see.

1) When I was a little girl I loved Doris Day and I would play for hours pretending to be her. I just loved the dresses she wore and always wanted one but have yet to have one, but I do have a pattern of one, hmmm......

2) I love old black and white movies and I loved Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra and such.

3) I was so in love with Chachey(Scott Baio) from Happy Days.

4) I love to eat Menudo (my husband so grosses out on this)

5) I have always wanted to speak another language, spanish would be great because of where we live.

6) I have always wanted to adopt a baby and actually have been thinking of it more and more lately but, hubby says no we are getting to old and I have to agree plus we have a grandson on the way and he should feel that desire to hold and cuddle and smell a newborn. :)

7) I love porch swings and quiet evenings and the smell after a fresh rain and the sound of crickets and toads after a long rain.

8) I love the smell of fresh laundry hung on a clothesline, it reminds me of my childhood (I hated that job).

9) When I was just a child I would dream of someday being a singer. I love to sing still and actually did grow up to be a singer, I sing at our church, not what I thought I would be back then, I was thinking more along the lines of being famous, but God hears me and I enjoy it tremendously.

10) I have a half sister from my dad that I have never met (she was born way before me) and I have a half brother from my mom that I have never met. She was very young when she had him and the mother of the daddy had their marriage annuled and the baby was taken away from my mother and adopted out. She did find him and see him when he was a little over a year old but was never allowed to see him again. All the way up to her dying day she spoke of him and wanting to find him someday. She never did.

Now I must reward only 7 bloggers, now thats a toughy.

1) Dana at www.dana-made-it.com is so amazing, she has the cutest kiddos and this lady is so creative and has that colgate smile that warms your heart. I love all the cute things she makes for her wee ones and she has inspired me in more ways then I am sure she knows.

My not so new serger and My sewing room progress!

Ebay is now my new best friend. It has been around forever and I have visited before long ago but on my quest to find a serger it popped into my head as the "place to go", and so I did and guess what. I got a serger! YES! and it only cost me $56 bucks, plus s & h. I am so excited! This pic is super sucky sorry it was a copy and paste but it is mine so I had to show her off some how. She is a Simplicity easy lock model SL370 and the seller says it runs perfect and has everything with it. YIPPY!

I also bid on and won a few other things, mostly lil girl clothes size 6x for my Bry but I also scored some iron on's and some super cute fabric.

Both of these fab fabrics are 2 yrds and the bomb. The green floral one is vintage and I Love It!

These two cute lil iron on's were a had to have at less than a buck each. The F is no ones initial in our house but I am sure I can figure out something to use it for, thought about adding ancy to it and making the word Fancy on a shirt or pair of jeans, what do you think?
These lil frogs were a must also because I have the matching fabric and gonna get busy making a cute outfit for my Bry when they arrive in the mail.

O Yeah I way scored and you should see the darling outfits I got also were at an awesome price with everthing I got I spent way less than a hundred dollar bill I will post pictures of the outfits later I am to excited about the "me" things I got right now especially my SERGER!

And now for my sewing room news. It is done being painted and tomorrow I am going to spend the day organizing and putting everything in its place and then onto the real fun. SEWING, CRAFTING and whatever else I may wanna do in there because after all it is MY room :)

Hugs,
Kathy
